Episode 220: VYLTS [Hardcore] (Pittsburgh, PA)

Episode 220 features VYLTS from Pittsburgh, PA. They are a hardcore band who’ve been releasing music since 2021. In the interview I spoke with Heath and Christian. This episode continues with my recent focus on Pittsburgh’s music scene. They guys filled me in on everything that’s been going on in their world and the city in general. Episode 219: Jean Scene Records (DIY) [Pittsburgh, PA]

Episode 219 features Ron Parfitt from the DIY label Jean Scene in Pittsburgh. He started the label many years ago and has become a big part of the music scene. He primarily makes records and tapes for bands and he also has a 2 day indie music fest on October 13/14 featuring about 30 bands or so. On this episode I featured 2 bands from his label, one is called Split Silk and the song is called Ocean Heart. The other band is Morning Dew and the song is called D.R.E.A.M. Episode 218 features Max from Sunny Daze & The Weathermen. They are a 7 piece “flower punk” band from Pittsburgh, PA. They have a new self titled EP out and I featured two songs from it. One is called “I dont know what I want” and the other is called “The Munhall Man.” You can find both tracks on Spotify and everywhere else. In our conversation Max and I talked about the Pittsburgh scene, house shows, stories behind the songs, and much more. Episode 217: Eli Hunter of Moongroove Music Festival (Mohnton, PA)

Bonus episode this week with Eli Hunter from The Moongrove Music Festival in Mohnton, PA which is happening this weekend (July 21-23). This is his second spin on the show and I wanted to get him back on for a quick chat about this years fest. It’s a 3 day naturist fest featuring about 40 musical acts ranging from EDM, acoustic, bluegrass, reggae, and jam bands. Camping is available and tickets are still on sale, including at the door. Episode 216: Faith In Failure (Cody & Matt) [Columbus, OH] {Metal}

Episode 216 features Cody and Matt from the Columbus based metal band Faith in Failure. They have a new single out now that is featured on this episode and it’s called “Hero Part II.” I also featured their “hit” song “Sleepless.” If you like either of them you can check ‘em out wherever you stream music. They have a similar sound to All That Remains and Breaking Benjamin. In our conversation we talked a lot about the Ohio music scene, the guy’s background in music, and some of the stories behind the songs. Episode 215 features Caleb and Michael of Color Birgade. They are an indie rock band from Chambersburg, PA. I came across some of their stuff on Instagram and wanted to get them on the show. I featured their latest “Nothing Left To Say.” In the interview we talked about the guys respective tastes in music as well as their current academic pursuits. We broke out the mics last weekend behind The Depot before their set. In our conversation I talked with the whole band: Bryan, Jeremy, Mikey, and Alex respectively. Episode 213: Oort Patrol (Punk Rock) [North Carolina]

Episode 213 features Gordon Anderson from the North Carolina punk band Oort Patrol. I will likely be focusing on the Raleigh/Durham area a bit this month and Oort Patrol is our first guest. They are also dropping a brand new EP July 12th and I featured two songs from it which have not been released yet, so if you are friends of fans of Gordon’s, you will hear them first on the this episode. I featured “Flying Saucer Working Party” and “Soylent Majority” which are loosely Sc-Fi themed and we talked a bit about them in the interview. We also discussed Gordon’s job working for the local newspaper and some his interests in writing. Definitely check out Oort Patrol on their socials and watch for the their new music coming out soon.
