Episode 246: Goddamn Wolves (Indie Rock) [Raleigh, NC]
Tuesday Jan 09, 2024
Tuesday Jan 09, 2024
Episode 246 features Goddamn Wolves, an indie rock band hailing from North Carolina. They draw influence from classic alternative rock bands such as the Replacements and Pixies. Goddamn Wolves is led by Chris Weilding and Laura McCullough. The band has released three EPs: "Goddamn Wolves," "Dauphine," and "Resign Yourself." The latter was recorded with the exceptional engineer Missy Thangs at Fidelitorium Recordings in Kernersville, NC.
In the episode, I showcased two brand new songs that just dropped on January 5th: ‘older, slower’ and ‘everything is free.’ If you enjoy either of them, you can stream them wherever you listen to music. I had a really fun conversation with Laurq and Chris, delving into the origins of the band, their style of songwriting, the Raleigh music scene, as well as Laura’s brush encounter with Courtney Love. It also turns out that we will be playing a show together at The Night Rider 5/4 in Raleigh. Thank you for tuning in and supporting local music.

The band’s latest release is called 'Return to Sender,' and I featured 'Favorite Lies' and 'Paralyzed' on this episode. If you like either of them, you can stream them wherever you listen to music. You can also find the band on any and all social media platforms. In my conversation with Kyle, we talked about the NYC music scene and songwriting primarily. Tuesday Jan 02, 2024
Tuesday Jan 02, 2024
Episode 244 features Letsbeastronauts from Baltimore, MD. They are an alternative/indie rock band that reminds me a lot of Brand New. In the conversation, I spoke with Cliff & Eddie. We talked a lot about the backstories behind the new songs, including life, death, suicide, and getting things off your chest through the medium of art. I featured my favorite song of theirs called ‘Overdose,’ as well as another track called ‘Close your eyes’ at the end of the episode. If you like either of them, definitely check them out wherever you listen to music. Thanks for supporting local bands and the local community.

Episode 242: Jeff Ojeda (Phase Music Management) [Vancouver B.C.]
Tuesday Dec 19, 2023
Tuesday Dec 19, 2023
Episode 242 features Jeff Ojeda of Phase Music Management based in Vancouver, B.C. Over the years, he has worked with the likes of Nickelback, Florida Georgia Line, Morgan Wallen, and others in the Big Loud crowd. He began his journey in the music scene by playing in a relatively unknown touring band before transitioning into graphic design and management. Currently, he is managing a country/americana artist named Kyle Mckearny, whose music is featured in this episode. The song is titled ‘Mercy.’ In our conversation, we delved into the early years of Jeff’s career, along with some entertaining behind-the-scenes stories from the industry. The interview was both insightful and fun. Jeff even shared the time when he received an early demo of the song ‘Cruise’ by FGL but didn’t initially like it. Whether you are involved in music or management, we hope you find the episode interesting. Thank you for listening and supporting local music.

Episode 241: Bright Kelly (indie pop rock) [Philadelphia]
Tuesday Dec 12, 2023
Tuesday Dec 12, 2023
Episode 241 features Bright Kelly from Philadelphia, PA. Currently releasing music under his solo moniker, he is also the frontman of the band called The Great Enough, which gained success opening for Imagine Dragons and other big names. Bright is a hardworking songwriter, and I appreciate his lyrics for their creativity and bluntness. He has one best all-time lyrics I’ve ever heard from any guest on this show, in calling Keith Richards a sorcerer in ‘Jesus Was A Socialist.’ So he’s earned my respect for that alone. Beyond his lyricism, he appears to be an extremely positive and amicable person to work with. I believe his attitude will continue to serve him well, and I am now a fan of his music, which I would describe as Imagine Dragons meets a street-wise version of the Goo Goo Dolls. I featured two of his songs, and if you enjoy them, you can find them wherever you stream music.
During our conversation, we delved into the backstage drama of opening for 20,000 people, the state of the music industry, the importance of supporting other artists, and we may have talked some trash about some venues (just kidding). Bright is active on all social media, so you can follow him there for his tour dates. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.

Episode 240: Vinyl Vows (Wedding Band/DJ) [DC/MD/VA]
Wednesday Dec 06, 2023
Wednesday Dec 06, 2023
Episode 240 features Vinyl Vows, a wedding band and DJ package in the DMV. The lineup includes myself, DJ Will Cole, The Big Laird, Lynette, & Christian. Will Cole has successfully DJed hundreds of weddings and is now inviting our band to join him. The addition of a band component makes Vinyl Vows unique, offering a comprehensive musical experience for weddings. I would describe the project as a supergroup of sorts, featuring the best musicians I've worked with in the cover scene over the years. In our conversation, we talked about all our fun stories and strategies for making a wedding or event the best it can be. If you have been in a wedding band yourself, I’m sure you’ll get a laugh out of it.
For those interested, more information can be found on Vinyl Vows' social media profiles, and inquiries can be made via email. The band bundle can also include video services as needed, adding an extra dimension to the wedding experience.

Episode 239: Robert Becker of Fauxtrot (Post Hardcore) [Leigh Heigh Valley, PA]
Tuesday Nov 28, 2023
Tuesday Nov 28, 2023
Episode 239 features Robert Becker of Fauxtrot, a post-hardcore band from Leigh High Valley, PA that incorporates high-energy riffs, grooving basslines, and intricate song structures. I would compare their sound to that of The Fall Of Troy, and perhaps to some degree, 311. Fauxtrot has a brand new EP dropping later this week called 'Lost in Translation.' I featured their two most current tracks, 'Retrace Embrace' and 'Too Close.' If you enjoy them, you can find their music wherever you usually listen.
During our conversation, we delved into the origins of the band, the challenges of booking shows, playing out of town, and the overall feeling of the Philly music scene. Be sure to find Fauxtrot on social media and give them a follow. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.

Episode 238 features Alex from Granddogs, who is a member of a piano-driven, multi-genre band from Pennsylvania. Their next show is on 12/16 at West Art in Lancaster, PA, with Quiet Riders. In my conversation with Alex, we talked about working in a piano bar, pets, songwriting, and the Philly music scene.
