Thursday Feb 01, 2024
Thursday Feb 01, 2024
Episode 251 features Justin Taylor from Southern Maryland. He is a songwriter and musician who has been touring and releasing music for many years now. He has worked with the likes of Sam Grow and has also lived in Nashville for periods of time. We are playing a show together this Saturday February 3rd, at Cafe611 in Frederick, MD, so I wanted to get him on the show to talk about his experience in the music scene and get to know him a little bit. It was a really fun, in-depth conversation, and I hope you enjoy it. I should also mention that in light of the show this weekend, this is a bit of a special release episode, and episode 250 will be officially airing next week because I have a very special guest.
On this episode, I featured Justin’s song “Over You,” which you can find wherever you stream music. Justin’s sound oscillates between country and rock, so we had a lot of common ground to discuss in the interview. Definitely go follow Justin on all the socials and consider coming out to the show this Saturday. It also features Amanita, Salughwise, & Volumetric Thing. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.

Episode 246: Goddamn Wolves (Indie Rock) [Raleigh, NC]
Tuesday Jan 09, 2024
Tuesday Jan 09, 2024
Episode 246 features Goddamn Wolves, an indie rock band hailing from North Carolina. They draw influence from classic alternative rock bands such as the Replacements and Pixies. Goddamn Wolves is led by Chris Weilding and Laura McCullough. The band has released three EPs: "Goddamn Wolves," "Dauphine," and "Resign Yourself." The latter was recorded with the exceptional engineer Missy Thangs at Fidelitorium Recordings in Kernersville, NC.
In the episode, I showcased two brand new songs that just dropped on January 5th: ‘older, slower’ and ‘everything is free.’ If you enjoy either of them, you can stream them wherever you listen to music. I had a really fun conversation with Laurq and Chris, delving into the origins of the band, their style of songwriting, the Raleigh music scene, as well as Laura’s brush encounter with Courtney Love. It also turns out that we will be playing a show together at The Night Rider 5/4 in Raleigh. Thank you for tuning in and supporting local music.

Over the years, he has worked with the likes of Nickelback, Florida Georgia Line, Morgan Wallen, and others in the Big Loud crowd. He began his journey in the music scene by playing in a relatively unknown touring band before transitioning into graphic design and management. Currently, he is managing a country/americana artist named Kyle Mckearny, whose music is featured in this episode. The song is titled ‘Mercy.’ In our conversation, we delved into the early years of Jeff’s career, along with some entertaining behind-the-scenes stories from the industry. The interview was both insightful and fun. Jeff even shared the time when he received an early demo of the song ‘Cruise’ by FGL but didn’t initially like it. Episode 241: Bright Kelly (indie pop rock) [Philadelphia]
Tuesday Dec 12, 2023
Tuesday Dec 12, 2023
Episode 241 features Bright Kelly from Philadelphia, PA. Currently releasing music under his solo moniker, he is also the frontman of the band called The Great Enough, which gained success opening for Imagine Dragons and other big names. Bright is a hardworking songwriter, and I appreciate his lyrics for their creativity and bluntness. He has one best all-time lyrics I’ve ever heard from any guest on this show, in calling Keith Richards a sorcerer in ‘Jesus Was A Socialist.’ So he’s earned my respect for that alone. Beyond his lyricism, he appears to be an extremely positive and amicable person to work with. I believe his attitude will continue to serve him well, and I am now a fan of his music, which I would describe as Imagine Dragons meets a street-wise version of the Goo Goo Dolls. I featured two of his songs, and if you enjoy them, you can find them wherever you stream music.
During our conversation, we delved into the backstage drama of opening for 20,000 people, the state of the music industry, the importance of supporting other artists, and we may have talked some trash about some venues (just kidding). Bright is active on all social media, so you can follow him there for his tour dates. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.
