Tuesday Jul 08, 2025
Episode 328 features Little Low, an indie emo band from Boston, MA. In the interview, I spoke with the singer, Christine Atturrio. We talked a lot about balancing work and creativity. She also shared her general story, including moving to the West Coast for a time. We discussed the Boston music scene and the band’s new music. Thanks for listening and supporting local music. I featured my favorite track of theirs, called Dark Beer Archives, which we discussed in the episode. You can follow Little Low on all the socials and find their music on any streaming platform. They have a big show coming up on August 2nd so make sure to keep tabs on that. Thanks again for listening and supporting local music.

Wednesday Jul 02, 2025
Episode 328 features my longtime friend and bandmate Matt Harris, aka the Big Laird. We wanted to do a little recap episode of this weekend’s Part-Time Rockstar Fest — the 5th annual — at Fish Head Cantina. We talked about how it went, what went well, what we could improve on, and stuff like that. And talk a little bit about the bands that played. It was definitely a fun year, and I really appreciate everyone who came out/helped out. A good time was had by all I do believe. For the regular listeners, I should mention that I play in the Big Laird Band as well as The Hollow Truths. The Laird Band normally does cover shows, but we’ve been writing more originals lately, so we touched on that a bit in the conversation. This weekend, July 5th, the Big Laird Band will be on the road, heading down to Charlottesville, VA — or more specifically, Crozet, VA — to play at PRN Brewing, which is a great live music venue and brewery down there. The Big Laird Band will also be releasing new music soon, as soon as we can figure out how to pay for it. Thanks for listening and for supporting local music!
Please rate/follow the show wherever you’re streaming.

Wednesday Jun 25, 2025
Episode 326 features Tiny City, an indie rock band from Charlotte, North Carolina. Band members include Nick Muccio (bass), Brendan Pope (guitar, keys), and Caleb Biele, and Derek Stanton (lyricist, lead vocals, drums). Each of them joined the chat in one way or another, and it made for a fun and engaging conversation. We’ll be playing a show together on November 15th in Charlotte at Starlight on 22nd. I featured their track “How Did You Know” off their latest album. We discussed their writing and recording process in depth, as well as their most recent tour, which took them all over the East Coast. Now that all the guys have full-time jobs, we also chatted about balancing music and work life. Thanks for listening—and as always, support local art!

Tuesday Jun 10, 2025
Episode 324 features Luke Justin Roberts, aka LJR—a longtime friend of mine and a talented pop artist based in the DMV. While he was a frequent guest in the early days of the show, it’s been at least 100 episodes since his last appearance, so it felt like the perfect time to bring him back. We were working on a collaboration for a Frank Turner cover, which gave us the chance to fit in an interview. Luke is releasing a full-length album tomorrow, June 11th, which has been years in the making. In this episode, I featured his track “Insecure,” which you can stream on all major platforms. We had an in-depth conversation about balancing the need to make money with the drive to stay creative as a musician. In addition to his music, Luke runs LJR Creative, offering video services, and hosts songwriter sessions called “Amplify” at studios throughout the DMV. Thanks, as always, for listening and supporting local artists—may you kick ass in all your endeavors.

I’d been meaning to have him on the show after we played a few open mics and a recent showcase together with our mutual friend Will Sims. I featured his song “East Coast Blues” in this episode—if you like it, you can stream it wherever you listen to music. In our conversation, we talked about songwriting, creative writing, community college, and the music scene in Maryland. Thanks for listening and for supporting local artists!

Episode 322 features Parker Hastings from Kentucky/Nashville. He’s a guitar player and songwriter with new music out. I first came across him at a Gaelic Storm show at Rams Head in Annapolis, Maryland—he’s currently their lead guitarist. Parker was gracious enough to come on the show and share the story of his musical journey. He now lives in Nashville, where he works full-time in music. It was a fun conversation—we talked about all sorts of things, including going from part-time to full-time, as well as a great story about Parker playing the Grand Ole Opry for the first time. I also featured his song “Kentucky Sunshine” on this episode, and if you like it, you can find it on all major streaming platforms. Thanks for listening and for supporting local artists.

Tuesday May 20, 2025
Episode 321 features Night Walks from Baltimore, MD. They are an indie rock band with new music out. I featured their track ‘Untitled’ on this show. I wanted to get them on the podcast because we are playing a big show together this coming Monday, May 26th, at the Ottobar. I have not personally played there in at least 5 or 6 years, and at the time, it was one of our best shows ever. So, needless to say, we are excited and appreciate Sam & David for inviting us. In the interview, we talked about their new music, the Baltimore music scene, songwriting, and balancing work with music. The info and ticket link for the show are in the episode notes. Thanks for listening and supporting local music and local artists.

Episode 320 features Clif from LetsBeAstronauts. This is his second time on the show. In short, it’s a gig review–style episode. I wanted to find someone with boots on the ground to talk about the Turnstile benefit show that took place in Baltimore last weekend.
The Grammy-nominated hardcore band staged a free benefit concert on Saturday (May 10, 2025) at Wyman Park Dell, drawing thousands of fans and raising over $35,000 for charity. The beneficiary was Health Care for the Homeless, which provides medical, dental, therapy, and addiction support services to Baltimore’s most vulnerable populations.
If you’re in need of services or would like to donate, the website is listed below.
I featured “Surgery from a Doctor with Broken Hands” by LetsBeAstronauts. Check out their socials for upcoming events and releases.
