Zach is also originally from Hawaii, which is where he was calling in from for this interview. So we talked about that, Zach’s ethos for the band, and some of his spiritual ideas. Let’s just say Zach is a big fan of human free will, but more on that in the interview.

Episode 59: Sidney Abernathy
Friday Apr 02, 2021
Friday Apr 02, 2021
Sidney Abernathy is a folk/alternative country signer originally from Colorado. Now residing in Mexico. I first got acquainted with her music after seeing former guest and friend of the show Matt Pless do a write up of her new album. And was pretty much hooked after that. I’ve featured two of her songs on this episode. One is called "Medicine" and the one at the end of the show is called "Miss You." They are my favorite tracks off of album No Return Address.
As a lyricist Sidney has everything I admire in a song writer. I hate using the word haunting but if there was ever a time to use it, her album would probably be it. There’s depth and sadness juxtaposed with humor and tongue in cheek sarcasm. Intermingled with the classic elements of old american outlaw country. But most importantly her songs are genuine and real. So if you’re into maybe the “off the beaten path side of country,” you’ll probably dig it. Thanks for listening. Links below.

Episode 58: Andrew Toy --- @atoydrummer
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
My guest today is Andrew Toy. Also known as @AToyDrummer online on twitter, youtube, and instagram. He’s got a new album out called Guardrails which is featured at the link in the notes. The song “Sneaking Suspicions" is featured on the episode. I just met Andrew a couple weeks ago when he came in to the studio where I was recording to do some drum tracks. I’ve been fortunate to play with a lot of good drummers but Andrew’s really on another level. By the sound of it he’s playing around the world for many years now. And is currently promoting his new percussion based album. He says he uses percussion as a starting point for composition and sonic exploration. In the studio and on stage, Andrew twists, distorts, and re-arranges the sound of the drums beyond recognition to create soundscapes that are both intense and atmospheric. I sort of described it as what you might hear the Matrix was based in the jungle. But anyway when had a fun chat so hopefully you enjoy it whether you are friends or fans of his.
