Wednesday Feb 23, 2022
Wednesday Feb 23, 2022
This week’s guest is Josh Parkhurst of the band Last Point. They are a 4-piece Skate Punk band from the Central Coast of California near Santa Barbara. They derive their sound from Good Riddance, RKL, and The Suicide Machines among others. Josh and I talked about his background in music and how he got out to the west coast in his early 20's. He’s originally from New York. We also talked about the difference in cultures and stuff like that. Last point has some new music out. Specifically a new album called “A Broken Road” and I featured the last track off of that called “Unfinished Business.” Which you can find on Spotify or iTunes or where ever you listen to music. As always thanks for supporting local music wherever you may be listening. Links below.

Episode 111: Daphne Eckman (Annapolis, MD)
Wednesday Feb 16, 2022
Wednesday Feb 16, 2022
This week’s guest is Daphne Eckman. She is a solo artist from Annapolis, MD who is currently working on a full length album. I featured her first single “Cannibal” on this episode. Daphne also has a full band show this Friday the 18th at Cult Classic Brewing on Kent Island. It’s an awesome venue across the bay bridge from Annapolis and is a great place to see a band if you haven’t been out there yet. So if you are friends or fans of hers definitely consider snagging some tickets.
In our conversation we talked about her approach to song writing, her bass player Graham Furniss, and the Annapolis scene in general. Such as former guests Skribe & Kavoossi & Rohry from Cult Classic. Definitely give Daphne a follow on the socials. She’s constantly playing all over town and has a bunch of summer gigs. As always thanks for supporting local music and supporting local art in general. It really does matter to all of us on the show and beyond. Links to music and show below.

Monday Feb 07, 2022
Monday Feb 07, 2022
Episode 109 features with my guest Phillips Saylor Wisor. Otherwise known as Strip Mall Ballads. He has been a presence in the underground North American folk scene for about the last 20 years. His music is identifiable by the mountain banjo and his unique guitar style that combines Piedmont Blues, Bluegrass and Psychedelic Country influences. I wanted to get him on the show after talking to his friend and on/off bandmate Andrew Janosek of Rock Creek Revival. I featured Phillips song "Pull Over Johnny" on this episode. Stripmall Ballads has a big release show in DC 2/12 at The SongBird. I should also mention that Phillips teaches banjo and is always looking for new and interested students. Monday Jan 31, 2022
Monday Jan 31, 2022
This week's episode features my friends from Guest Bed out of Baltimore, MD. Ethan, Josh, & Brooks came over the other day to talk about their debut release. Anytime we're able to do an in person podcast it’s always fun. We had a good time talking the guys affinity for Arby’s, hollow earth theory, songwriting, and their extensive feelings about the band Brand New. So if you are friends of theirs, or just listening in, hopefully you get a little laugh out of it. We’ll be playing a show together soon on April 13th at the Crown in Baltimore with Souls Extolled. I featured a song of theirs called “Dry Try” on this episode. You’ll be able to find their music on Spotify soon on February 19th. In the mean time you can follow Guest Bed on Instagram. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.

This week’s episode features Ryan Malott of the band 500 Miles to Memphis. They are a punk/americana band from Ohio who've been touring around the country and releasing records since the early 2000’s. The band gained a following after having their songs featured on the X Games and Jackass back in the day. At present, the group just released a new record called “Hard to Love" and featured a couple of songs of that; “Dropout” and “A Pound of Flesh” respectively. But yeah if you enjoy the interview or the songs definitely go follow 500 Miles To Memphis wherever you listen to music or scroll on the socials. Also, Happy New Year! Cheers to 2022.
