Episode 166: Jeff Campbell of Wisher (Indie Rock) [Philadelphia, PA]
Thursday Nov 17, 2022
Thursday Nov 17, 2022
Bonus episode this week with my guest Jeff Campbell of the Philadelphia based band Wisher. This episode is a bit of a recap of a recent show that we played together at The Grape Room in Philly a couple weeks ago. It was really fun night and I wanted to get Jeff on the show for a proper conversation. He’s been touring the the country for about the last 20 years or so and has even made it on the Jimmy Kimmel show. So he had some fun stories to share and also talk about his new songs. I featured “To The Sun” and “The Well” respectively and they are out on Spotify. Thanks for supporting local music. You can check out all things Wisher in the episode links.

This week’s episode features my long time friend Nick Thompson, also know as Surfin’ On The Lake. This is his third time on the show and I wanted to get him back on because a lot has changed in his life since the last episode. He is still making music but he has also joined the Navy and moved across the the country. A former Annapolis native, he is now stationed in San Diego. He has a brand new song coming out tomorrow called “Good Time Girls” and you'll hear it for the first time on this episode. I also featured another recent song of Nick’s called “Little Tiny Bottles of Beer." I also happened to play the guitar solo on the end of the track which was fun. So whether you are friends or fans of Nick’s I hope you appreciate the conversation. Thanks for supporting local music and art. Links below.

Episode 163: Jackson Vincent (Indie Rock) [Philadelphia, PA]
Tuesday Nov 08, 2022
Tuesday Nov 08, 2022
This week’s episode features my new friend Jackson Vincent from Philadelphia. He is an art student with a brand new album out called Normal Tension. I featured a couple of his songs on the episode. One is called “Happiest” and the other is called “Roving Soul.” We had a real well rounded conversation about film, photography, music, and Jackson’s general philosophies on writing. We also talked about his style of music in particular because he uses auto-tune in a unique way. In my mind his sound is akin to Eilliot Smith (from the Good Will Hunting soundtrack) or something along those lines. Jackson self-describes his music with the tag line “Music For Ghosts.” If you like his stuff you can find it on Spotify or at the links below listed in the episode notes. Thanks for listening and supporting local artists.

Tuesday Nov 01, 2022
This week’s episode features my guest Greg from the Philadelphia based indie rock band Unlucky Mammals. We are playing a show together this Friday in Philly at The Grape Room with some of our mutual friends including Bees!, Dont Pretty, & Wisher. So if you’re in the neighborhood definitely feel free to stop by. Greg and I had a fun conversation about all things music as well as all things literature and baseball. By the sound of it Greg is a teacher and author. I featured his songs “Socratic Meathead” & “Engines.” Which you can find on Spotify/iTunes/Bandcamp and I’ve added the links to the band in the episode notes if you want to give them a follow. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.

Episode 161: Titans (Hardcore) [Belgium/Netherlands]
Tuesday Oct 25, 2022
Tuesday Oct 25, 2022
This week’s episode features my guest Maurits from the Amsterdam/Belgium based metal band Titans. Titans is a "heavy melodic band, striving to bring a positive reflection on the darker aspects of life by means of strong lyrical storytelling." They’ve been releasing music since 2017. I featured their latest track called, “King Of Misery.” The song "highlights a pattern of self-destruction and self-hate while offering a message to embrace who you are and to be proud of your accomplishments, regardless of how trivial they may appear." So if you’re into the metal you can definitely check it out on Spotify or wherever. But anyway, Mauritis and I had a fun conversation about everything the band has been up to and the general music culture in Amsterdam. Thanks for supporting local music and local bands.

Tuesday Oct 18, 2022
This week’s episode features my guests Marty, Sam, and Art from the Maryland based band Rattle Root. We met up in person at one my favorite haunts (Gilley's) in Rockville, MD to talk about their music. They have an eccentric approach to songwriting and performance. The guys call their sound “Roots & Roll” and have been playing together for a couple years now. I featured their songs “Getting Warmer” and “L.W. Pamphlet” respectively. You can find their stuff in all the usual streaming places. They are working on new music and you will find updates on their socials. I listed their links in the episode notes. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.

Tuesday Oct 11, 2022
Tuesday Oct 11, 2022
This week’s episode features Washington D.C. area hip hop artist Marc 2ray. He’s been releasing music for a few years now and has been using his lyrics to educate and empower during that time. Marc has Armenian Genocide survivors in his lineage which inspired him to write a song called “1915.” The track has been characterized as his most impactful release thus far and I featured in on this episode. I also featured Marc’s latest release “True Craft” ft. MC Bravado x Allison Balanc which you can check out on Spotify or wherever you stream music. I featured Marc’s links in the episode notes so you can give him a follow on the socials as well.

Friday Oct 07, 2022
Friday Oct 07, 2022
Episode 158 features my guests Matt & John from The Mack Brothers out of South Philadelphia. They are an Alt Rock duo who derive their sound from 2000s indie rock and 90’s brit pop. They just released two new songs, “There Goes My Baby” and “Just A Summer Away” respectively. I featured both songs on the episode. The guys also have their own show on Youtube called The Mack Brothers Podcast. We had a fun conversation about all sorts of stuff including our mutual Philly friends Bees! and Scoopski. So whether you are friends or fans of The Mack Brothers hopefully you enjoy the conversation. As always thanks for supporting local music and local art.

This week’s episode with is with local producer and musician Tony Correlli of The Deep End Studio in Baltimore. Tony has been recording music for over 20 years and is a massive supporter of the scene. We had a really in depth conversation about all the projects he has going on including a music compilation called The Charm City Sampler featuring all local artists. He also makes custom microphones for bands around the world. And his personal band is called “Steep Steps” which was featured in a movie soundtrack for an indie flick called “Butterfly Kisses.” So whether you are friends of fans of Tony’s hopefully you like the episode. I featured Steep Steps track called “Sophia.” You can see Tony at his next show at this year’s Maryland Science Center Halloween party. He is doing a Foo Fighters Tribute set with a friends band. Check out all the links to Tony’s stuff in the episode description. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.

Episode 156: Jose Salazar of Los Kombi [Indie Rock] (Apple Valley, CA)
Tuesday Sep 27, 2022
Tuesday Sep 27, 2022
This week’s episode features Jose Rios from the indie rock band Los Kombi out of Apple Valley, California. I came across his music on the Indie Music Feedback subreddit and wanted to get him on the show. Los Kombi has an impressively polished west coast indie rock sound for a band that only recently formed during the pandemic. They just uploaded their first Spotify release called “Beverly” which we discussed in the interview. As well as Jose’s recording process and some of the things he’s learned over the past few years. The band has a show this Friday in Oldetown Victorville at 8pm, details for which will be on the flier on IG. I also listed the links for Los Kombi below in the episode description. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.
