Episode 176: Brian & Rebecca from Neuro Farm (Goth rock) [Washington D.C.]
Tuesday Jan 03, 2023
Tuesday Jan 03, 2023
Episode 176 features the Washington D.C. based dark wave goth band Neuro Farm. They draw their influences from Radiohead, Joy Division, Nine Inch Nails, and Chelsea Wolf among others. In the interview I spoke with Brian & Rebecca who are both vocalists and songwriters in the band. They play guitar and violin respectively. They also happen to both be neuroscientists so we talked fairly extensively about that as well as their music. I featured Neuro Farms latest release which is a cover called “New Dawn Fades” by Joy Division as well as one of their originals called “Midnight Massacre.” If you like their stuff you can find it wherever you stream or listen to music. Tuesday Dec 27, 2022
Episode 175 features Mark from OrangeG out of Pittsburgh, PA. He is an indie folk singer/songwriter who has a new album out called “The Void Bereft.” We met on Instagram and I wanted to get him on the show because I wanted to expand on the scene there. And if you have not heard them before I featured two songs on this episode, one is called , “A Song About Kung Fu” and the other is “Burn Both Ends.” If you like them you can find them wherever you stream music. As always thanks for supporting local music.

Episode 174: Doc Pine & The Respect He Deserves (Blues Rock) [Annapolis, MD]
Friday Dec 23, 2022
Friday Dec 23, 2022
Episode 174 features Doc Pine & The Respect He Deserves. They are a Maryland based group with a new album out called “Welcome To the Victory Lounge.” I first met Doc some time ago (B.C.) when we played a show together at the Metropolitan in Annapolis. He seemed like a unique character and I figured he’d be perfect for the show. In our conversation we talked about all things songwriting, gigging, A.I., parenting, as well as balancing work with creativity. I featured two of his songs on the episode. One is a Christmas tune called “Every Day is Christmas at Oldie’s Packaged Goods & Tavern” and the other is called “The Drugs Ain’t Helping.” If you like Doc’s stuff you can find it wherever you stream music. Thanks for listening and supporting local music. Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas. Links Below.

Tuesday Dec 20, 2022
Tuesday Dec 20, 2022
Episode 173 features my guest Kaly Clauss who is a Baltimore based singer/songwriter. I first came across her latest EP “Leave Her Wild” because she recorded it with former guest of the show Tony Correlli of The Deep End Studio. I featured my favorite two songs of hers, “Tennessee” and “Pinky Swear," which have a really cool pop/country sound. In our conversation we talked about all the things music, songwriting, playing live, book recommendations, and strategies for staying positive. If you like Kaly’s music you can find her on all the usual streaming and social places. Links below.

Episode 172: Paul Joyce of Megazillion (Indie Rock) [Baltimore, MD]
Friday Dec 16, 2022
Friday Dec 16, 2022
Episode 172 features my friend Paul Joyce of the Baltimore based band Megazillion. He just released a brand new album called “Triple Phoenix” and I would describe it has having a lot of early (70s/80s) punk rock influences as well as some experimental and psychedelic undertones. Paul grew up in heyday of the hardcore scene in New York which I have to imagine greatly shaped his style of writing. We a had a really fun in depth conversation about all sorts of topics in this episode including music, writing, dreams, bartending, psychology, and books. So if you are friends or fans of Paul’s I think you’ll probably learn something you didn’t know about him before. I featured the tracks “Good Guys” and “Sheep of Doom” respectively. You can find Megazillion’s music on all the usual streaming platforms and also find them socials. Links Below.

Episode 171: Brian Wolff & The Howlers (Indie Rock) [Austin, TX]
Tuesday Dec 13, 2022
Tuesday Dec 13, 2022
This week’s episode features Brian Wolff out of Austin, TX. He is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter who’s musical style draws influence heavily from Classic Rock, 90’s Alternative, and Blues. His playing style has been described as “tasteful, yet powerful.” He led the band Fair City Fire for 7 years as they produced two LPs and embarked on five national tours. When the band split during the pandemic, Wolff narrowed his focus on writing songs and moving forward as a solo artist. Wolff released his debut EP called, “The Punch.” His band, Brian Wolff & The Howlers, features Tim Moen on bass and Joe Valadez on drums (also of Soul’s Extolled). I featured two of Brian’s songs on the episode. One is called “The Punch” and the other is “I love you, Goodnight.” I should also mention that Brian is playing Meanwhile Brewing with his band tonight at 8pm. So if you are listening in from the Austin area definitely feel free to swing by. Links listed in the episode notes.

Episode 170: Nick & Adam of Wake Magnolia (Hard Rock) [Akron, OH]
Friday Dec 09, 2022
Friday Dec 09, 2022
Continuing with our mini-series focusing on artists in Ohio, I talked to the guys in Wake Magnolia who are a two piece alt rock band from Akron, OH consisting of Nick Galbincea (guitar & vocals) and Adam Miller (drums). They describe their sound as dirty melodic rock with thick guitar tone and loud complimenting drums. They have been releasing music since 2015. In 2022 Wake Magnolia released a new album called "Shadow Cast Light" and was awarded best rock band by the Cleavland Music Awards. I featured their songs “Bruiser” and “Majcher” respectively. They also have a brand new behind the scenes short film on the making of the album that comes out today. So we had a fun conversation talking about that, the new album, and the scene in Ohio in general. The guys will have some shows coming up in 2023 so keep and look out for them and check out their stuff on Spotify. Links below.

Episode 169: Kyle & Nathan of Plastic Lemonade (Indie Rock) [Athens, OH]
Tuesday Dec 06, 2022
Tuesday Dec 06, 2022
This week’s episode features Kyle Willison & Nathan Cain of the Ohio based band Plastic Lemonade. They are a self described folk punk band and I would add that they have more than a fair share of indie rock to their sound as well. The band is playing shows around Athens and is at times up to 7 members. They have a brand new full length album out called “And Time…” I featured a couple songs of theirs, “Strong Words” and “Instability” respectively. So if you like their sound you can definitely find all of Plastic Lemonade's music out on all the streaming platforms. Thanks for listening and supporting local music. Links below.

Episode 168: Kevin McCall of Andorra [Boogie Swamp Rock] (Philadelphia, PA)
Tuesday Nov 29, 2022
Tuesday Nov 29, 2022
This week’s episode features my guest Kevin McCall of the Philadelphia based band Andorra. He also runs his agency called Bad Habits Booking. Kevin booked my band’s last show in Philly and I wanted to finally get him on the show to talk about everything his band has been up to. Andorra has a new documentary out which covers their last 10 years of making music and playing shows. I featured a couple of Andorra’s new singles on this episode, “Guts” and “Leather Jacket” respectively, which you can check out on Spotify or wherever you stream music. Hopefully if you are friends of fans of Kevins you enjoy the conversation. Big gratitude & thanks to everyone in the Philly music scene and to you for listening and supporting local music.

This week’s episode features Taylor Gomolisky otherwise know as @Tay_OnTheKeys. His band is The Man In the Flames and we will be playing a show together with Old Eastern on December 9th at The Metro in Baltimore with a bunch of our friends. Tay also plays in The Brothers Clair and Tionesta respectively. So we had a lot of ground to cover conversationally. I featured Tay’s tracks “Keep It steady” and “So Bad At Lying.” You can find the songs on Spotify under The Man In the Flames. Thanks for listening and supporting local music.
